  B: Well, that’s a bit of a grey area, but yes, most people do it.

• To be in the red ⇒ to have negative money in your bank account

  I did’t know this , but our company has been operating in the red for six months

• Read tape ⇒ laws and rules which seem too strict and unnecessary

  My coffee shop wants to start selling hot food, but there’s so much red tape befor we can even get started. I might need to hire a solicitor(英式)(a lawyer) to help me with all the paperwork.

• To roll out the red carpet ⇒ to make a lot of effort for an important visitor.

  We have a very important client coming today. We are rolling out the red carpet for him

• A golden oportunity ⇒ the chance to do something spectacular

  My boss asked me, if I wanted to go to Hawaii to open a new branch.

  Of course I said ‘Yes’! What a golden opportunity!

• To see someone’s true colours ⇒ someone who you thought was honest and friendly is actually DISHONEST!

  My friend, my colleague at work.... I thought was trying to help me, but I eventually saw her true colours. She was saying one thing to me, and telling the boss something different.

• Monday blues ⇒ the sad feeling you have because it’s Monday, and you need to begin working or studying again.

  A: Arnel are you okay?

  B: I’m fine. I just have the Monday blues.

  Once in a blue moon everyone in the office goes out to lunch together

• A black sheep ⇒ a person in a group who is a little bit different(not positive description)

  A: Who was that?

  B: Oh, that was Susan. She’s a little bit of a black sheep. She never talks to anyone.
